Why Options Trading Was So Intimidating to Me

For a long time, I’ll be honest, options trading intimidated me. 

Not because I didn’t understand finance. I’d spent years in the finance industry, but options was different.  Options, in my mind, had this reputation of being complicated and risky, almost like something you had to be a “trader type” to do.  It felt out of reach and exclusively for insiders only and, sadly, I didn’t see myself that way.

What I did want though was control.  Control over how I generated income, over my time and control over building something that didn’t depend on a paycheck alone. 

That’s what pulled me in.

The Mindset Shift About Options Trading That Changed Everything

At first, I approached options the way most people do, thinking it was about predicting the market and hitting big wins.  And let me tell you, that does not work and that particular mindset will exhaust you.

What changed everything for me was realizing that I didn’t need to be right all the time.  I just needed a system and structure.  Instead of chasing big wins, I started focusing on something much more powerful, consistency.

Learning how to sell options, not buy them, shifted my entire perspective. I stopped trying to guess what the market would do and started working with probabilities instead of my emotions.  That’s when things began to click.

To Simplify, You Need Strategy and Systems

Once I simplified the approach, everything became more manageable. I went from overwhelm to clarity.

I focused on:

• High-quality stocks
• Defined strategies
• Repeatable processes
• Patience

This was the system that kept me focused and structured.  And, most importantly, I stopped rushing.  Because the truth is, this isn’t about adrenaline or big wins.

It’s about discipline and consistency. 

After all, confidence doesn’t come from one big trade.  It comes from understanding what you’re doing and doing it again and again.

How Limiting Beliefs About Money Hold Us Back

I’ve seen this over and over again.  Women don’t lack the ability to invest.
They lack the environment where it feels safe to learn.  They hesitate because of their false misconceptions about what it takes to succeed in the stock market. 

We’ve been conditioned to:

• Avoid risk
• Wait until we feel “ready”
• Overthink decisions

Meanwhile, the opportunity is sitting right there and it’s our resilience, resourcefulness and dedication that gives us an edge. 

What we actually need is:

• Clear guidance
• A supportive space
• A strategy that makes sense

Once those pieces are in place, everything changes.
